ICD-10 training could be a costly part of the ICD-10 transition. But the World Health Organization (WHO) has a free ICD-10 Training Tool that can be used by individuals for self learning or can be adapted for classroom training.
Although this is just ICD-10 coding, not the clinical modification that the United States wil use, it looks like a good place to start training.
While you’re at it, throw in these examples:
- Congenital anomaly codes contain more information in ICD-10-CM: A look at all the data that these diagnosis codes contain. (ICD-10 Trainer)
- Prep Now for Next Year’s Croup Coding Transition: ICD-10 will require a second diagnosis code for the cause of the disease. (SuperCoder Bolt)
- ICD-10 coding for preventative organ removal: What would Angelina Jolie’s hospital code? (ICD-10 Trainer)
- Coding Root Operations with ICD-10-PCS: Understanding detachment, destruction and extraction. (Journal of AHIMA)
This is a weekly feature that I use to highlight practical tips on how to use and understand ICD-10-CM/PCS codes. Please let me know of any other sources that I can include.
